While the hype around AI tools like chatbots has many wondering if they’ll be replaced by robots, it’s not all doom and gloom. The McKinsey Global Institute suggests that automation could wipe out 30% of jobs by 2030, but don’t worry, there’s hope! The World Economic Forum predicts that AI will create 97 million new roles in fields like data science and human-AI collaboration.
Goldstuck points out that AI’s ability to handle repetitive tasks with perfect accuracy makes jobs like bookkeeping and basic PR writing ripe for replacement. In fact, AI has already rendered bookkeepers an endangered species, while accountants will thrive, as AI speeds up data analysis and spots opportunities faster than you can say “robot takeover.”
On the flip side, jobs requiring creativity, emotional intelligence, or complex decision-making are safe for now—teachers, psychologists, nurses, and artists, you’re good to go. Even plumbers and electricians don’t have to worry about AI coming to fix your pipes (thank goodness). These trades require hands-on problem-solving and improvisation that no robot can replicate… at least, not yet.
So, while some of us might find ourselves working side-by-side with AI in the future, other jobs are safe—at least until AI figures out how to fix your sink. For now, it’s all about adapting to the new tools available and maybe brushing up on a bit of creativity.
