ActionSA Takes Aim at Durban Metro for Leading MK Motorcade

ActionSA has sent a letter to eThekwini’s City Manager, Mr. Musa Mbhele, demanding answers on why the Durban Metro Police were spotted leading the recent uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) motorcade in Durban. According to ActionSA, this raises serious questions about the misuse of municipal resources.

The eThekwini Municipality seems to have a habit of mixing politics with public funds—just recently, they forked out over R5 million in taxpayer money to cover ANC Women’s League costs at the Durban International Convention Centre. Now, with the Metro Police visibly leading a political motorcade, it looks like they’re taking it up a notch.

ActionSA wants to know why the Metro Police were involved. Were they acting on orders, or was this just another case of political favouritism? And who exactly signed off on this move? While the City Manager will likely claim ignorance (a move we’re all too familiar with), ActionSA is determined to get some clarity.

To the people of KwaZulu-Natal, this incident shows that MK is already cozying up to the ANC, using municipal power and resources for their own political gains—even before they’re officially in charge.
